technology….I love to hate it

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

I love it when it works, but when my laptop crashes and I have to redo things that I’ve already done…. I haaaaate. Burning, seething, disapproving. That type. Thankfully I had just finished and sent off some bigger projects the day before – and my warranty was a week from expiring (niiiice!) So if there is ever a time I should be grateful for a technological tornado I guess this is it.

I apologize for the lack of art here lately – its mostly because the things I’ve been making are for ~*surprises*~!!!! I have been doing a lot of oil painting lately and I’m really starting to prefer it over acrylics. Here’s some progress on Buster, who’s picture was submitted to my not-exactly-weekly free portrait facebook page.

Not done, but in the final stages. This is my favorite part actually, cause you get to go in and get into all the really beautiful little details and subtle color changes that make it believable.

I’m also taking a figure drawing class this summer with one of my favorite profs so you might, maybe, possibly actually see some people on here. Don’t cry! I’ve been really busy rethinking every aspect of my business and taking it to a whole new level. I’m super excited about it and I’m hoping in the next few weeks I can get everything together. Here’s a hint:

wine labels

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

my school is too cool. we had an assigment to create a nautical themed wine label for periscope cellars. here is mine:

wine

but the real cool part is that we got to put them on actual wine bottles…..aaaand I got some sweet squid stickers out of the deal. yea CCA! It really does help to see how your artwork physically functions once printed and stuck onto something. sweeeeet….!

wine labels!

i am so bad at this

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

well now that its been several weeks I suppose I can grace you all with some artwork, hahaha. I’m trying to get better about this, I really am!

so here are my last few illustrations from school….which is almost over! wow.

Lou Dog ft. Sublime
this was a portrait assignment for a famous person/thing…..of course I chose Lou Dog from Sublime.
Sublime has gotten me through some times and they’re hands down my favorite band. If you’re not familiar with Sublime, they used Louie on their album covers, toured with him and brought him on stage for all their shows, so he was a huge part of the band. The bond between Brad and Lou was so beautiful.

Rest in peace Brad and Louie!

house of spirits cover
This was a book cover assignment, my book was House of Spirits.

Losing the War
“Losing the War”. This one is about the emotional baggage that comes with war that others could never possibly understand. We tend to forget about a war once its over but the people that were there for it can never forget, even though they probably want to.

And in the end...
Tattoo design…this one is for Brittany. The lyrics are from the Beatles’ Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End medley. “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make”. Nothing sums up my sister’s life better. She loved unconditionally and as a result, the world loved her back.

I miss you dearly little Britt <3
